Emerson Rose

Starting dance at a young age, she joined the Hawkins School of Performing Arts at three years old. Emerson started, the Hawkins Ballet and Jazz Contemporary companies at 12 years old, and became a student under Jacob’s artistic direction on Hawkins Contemporary Jazz Company. Here, she spent seven years competing across the state, including taking home the Overall winning title at the McCallum Palm Desert International Choreography Festival in 2019 and 2022. She worked under esteemed teachers and choreographers, including Lucy Vallely, Holden Maples, Peter Chu, and Mike Esperanza. In her senior year of high school, Jake recruited her to be a performer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where they participated in an international display of choreography. She returned the next year with SCDT to perform a full-length show titled MARIE, an interpretation of Marie Antoinette’s life and the story hidden in history. Working under Jacob’s artistic direction, she has honed both her artistic and technical skills, which have carried her through her creative journey.

In her freshman year of high school, at just 14 years old, she was asked to join SCDT to perform in a new pride show, OUT. Over the next seven years, she would perform with the company, starting as an apprentice and now preparing to transfer to a four-year university for film school with a minor in dance. She has had the honor to work under SCDT in community outreach programs such as Habitat Humanity galas, St. John Party for Change fundraisers, Shriners Hospital Christmas Campaign, and The Trevor Project for runaway LGBTQ teens. She is eternally grateful for the creative outlet she has found within SCDT over the past seven years and hopes to continue to create pieces of art that evoke emotion and inspire.
